💥CALORIE DEFICIT TO LOSE FAT💥⁣ - We all struggle with trying to reduce calories to lose fat, including me.⁣ So, if you saw my “Eating Healthy Can’t Lose Weight” post, you might remember Linda, who eats healthy but consumes too many calorie dense foods.⁣ ⁣ Well, I was Linda. You can see my lunch a year ago which has almost 100 grams of fat and over 1300 calories. Actually - not a bad lunch for a bulking phase.⁣ ⁣ However, I wanted to lean up this summer and after tracking my food for a week, I noticed my fat consumption was a bit high with my protein a little low.⁣ ⁣ So, I simply looked at ways to reduce fat and increase protein. I started using olive oil spray instead of dousing the pan in olive oil. I used more eggs but cut out the yolks on 3 of them. I reduced my avocado portion to 1/4 of an avocado.⁣ ⁣ And, voila, I eliminated 600 calories from one meal - and honestly I didn’t have to change much.⁣ ⁣ I also added a fat free Greek yogurt snack at the end of the night to increase protein and still keep calories manageable.⁣ ⁣ Remember - a deficit is the key to weight and fat loss, and often the best course of action is to start tracking your food and looking at trends. This was so simple to make: . . • one onion chopped and added to a pan with some oil. • add a teaspoon @verylazyfooduk garlic. • add half a jar of @pataksuk mild curry paste and cook for 2 mins. • add 500g chopped chicken (I precooked mine) • add 150ml water and simmer the mixture. • add half a jar of chopped tomatoes to the pot and reduce the liquid down. • add frozen peas and once cooked take off the heat and add in two tablespoons of fat free natural yog ☺️ . . If you are finding that you are able to perform less reps than you did in your previous set at the same weight, if form begins to suffer / break down sooner in the set than your previous set or if you are losing that mind muscle connection sooner than in the previous set and now feel like you need to drop the loading to continue. . . Basically, if your performance is getting progressively worse as your sets on a movement go on, you are most likely not resting sufficiently. . So how long should you rest for? . This very much depends as we are all INDIVIDUAL and have VERY different recovery capabilities, training experience and fitness levels. This is why prescribing specific rest periods isn’t very realistic. Go when you are ready would be my best advice, weather that is 2 minutes or 6 minutes, listen to your body and pay attention to your performance feedback. As a general rule of thumb, you will need longer rest on the compound movements and a little shorter for your isolation work, but again go by how YOU feel here. . . . Like I said, the goal is to get stronger. It’s not a race and the quality of your sets and reps is far more important than how long they took you to complete or how long you rested in between. . . Progressive overload is the main driver in hypertrophy, so progressions (increased loading, reps or sets) are going to determine the stimulus you expose the muscle to and how much adaptations you can force. . I always ask clients to track their macros during the #weightloss phase and my favorite app to use is MyFitnessPal. It’s a free app and it gives you a lot of useful info: calories, macros, nutritional value. 5 Tips for counting #macros : ⬇️. Do you track your macros? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ 1. Enter food into My Fitness Pal or whichever app you use BEFORE you eat it. There's nothing worse than eating something, entering it into MFP and thinking "Oh 😱” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ 2. Prioritize protein at every meal. For women I generally recommend 20-25 grams per meal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ 3. Craving something? 🎂🍺🍦Enter the food into MFP first and plan your meals around it. Also, knowledge is power, so you may decide using those calories for x food is totally worth it, or you may decide you only want half because x food eats away at your daily calories a bit too much. I'm a big believer in a 80/20 diet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ 4. I'd recommend using a food scale for the first little bit, and then doing check ins with it from time to time. It'll help you get a better idea of what a portion or serving looks like. This can be very helpful for a lot of foods, especially more calorie dense foods like peanut butter and avocado. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ 5. Plan ahead! If you're new to counting macros it will be challenging and take you a decent amount of time to figure out & plan your meals. Be patient with yourself and take time to plan your meals at the beginning of the day or, ideally the night before. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ I don't currently track my macros but I use all the information I learned from tracking them DAILY. Yes, it's true. You can absolutely lose weight on low carb, keto, paleo, IF, and the 700 other types of diets and eating methods that exist.⁣ ⁣ But you need to understand a very important fact.⁣ ⁣ Whenever those types of diets work, the underlying reason why is that they *indirectly* caused a caloric deficit to exist (often while claiming it has nothing to do with calories).⁣ ⁣ What I mean is, limiting what, when, or how you can eat (e.g. don't eat carbs, don't eat at this time of the day, etc.) and/or adjusting other dietary factors that improve hunger control (e.g. higher protein intake, more vegetables, etc.) indirectly makes you consume fewer calories.⁣ ⁣ And that can cause a deficit to exist, which is what makes weight loss happen. Yay!⁣ ⁣ But the big problem with this sort of “indirect deficit” approach is that it’s not guaranteed to work.⁣ ⁣ This is because, regardless of what rules and restrictions a diet uses to indirectly make you eat fewer calories, it’s always going to be possible for a person to overeat anyway (i.e. even when avoiding all of the "bad foods," it's still possible to overeat the "good foods").⁣ ⁣ Not to mention, the (unnecessary) rules and restrictions these types of diets entail are often unsustainable for the person that's attempting to use them, which means even if it DOES indirectly cause a deficit to exist, it’s not going to happen consistently enough or long enough to produce any meaningful results due to a lack of adherence.⁣ ⁣ Which is why, if you conclude that you've "tried everything and nothing works" because you tried a bunch of these indirect approaches, my advice would be to try simply tracking your calories and *directly* creating a moderate deficit, and then filling in the rest of your diet in whatever way is most preferable, enjoyable, convenient, and sustainable for you (i.e. sufficient protein, carbs/fat in whatever ratio you like best, food choices you actually enjoy, whatever meal frequency suits your preferences, etc.). ———— #lowcarbdiet #keto #weightlosssupport #weightlosshelp #weightlosstips #caloriecounting #calories #caloriesincaloriesout #cico #caloriedeficit #fatlosstips #losingweight #intermittentfasting Смотреть полностью
